Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Gusau, has resigned from office, announcing his decision during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.
His resignation comes amid criticism of football administration in the country following recent setbacks involving the national teams, including the Super Eagles and Super Falcons.
Following the development, attention has shifted to the possible constitution of a three-month Normalisation Committee to oversee the affairs of the NFF.
Sources said there was, however, disagreement among chieftains of the National Sports Commission (NSC) over who should head the proposed committee.
The sources said NSC Chairman, Shehu Dikko, was favouring Musa Ahmadu, while Director-General, Bukola Olopade, preferred former NFF President, Amaju Pinnick.
The proposed committee is expected to oversee the federation pending the conduct of a fresh NFF general election.
Football stakeholders are now awaiting clarity on the composition of the committee and the timetable for the next NFF election.
