On Saturday evening, the presidency announced that Ajuri Ngelale has stepped down from his role as spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu.

According to the official statement, Ngelale will be taking an “indefinite leave of absence for personal and health reasons.”

President Tinubu has “accepted his reasons for the leave, fully understands them, and sympathizes with the circumstances behind this challenging decision,” the statement said.

The statement also expressed well-wishes for Ngelale’s future endeavors and requested that “the privacy of Chief Ngelale and his family be respected.”

Ngelale, who had previously served as the presidential senior special adviser on public affairs under former President Muhammadu Buhari, was appointed by President Tinubu on July 31, 2023.
