The Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State, Lawan Najume Kabo, has sacked five appointed officials over their alleged membership of the Tinubu Maliya Shonikan support group.
The affected officials are the Administrative Secretary, Abba Salisu Mewake Garo; Supervisor Councillor, Ahmad Yusuf Chiroma Godiya; and Advisers on Education and Religious Affairs, Tanimu Garba Garo and Yakubu Sa’adu Gammo, respectively.
One of the affected officials, who spoke on behalf of the others, said the decision was announced during an emergency meeting presided over by the chairman on Tuesday evening.
He said the chairman linked their removal to their alleged membership and activities in the TMS group, which mobilises support for President Bola Tinubu and the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin.
“We were informed of our removal during an emergency meeting called by the chairman on Tuesday evening.
“The reason given was our alleged membership and involvement in the Tinubu Maliya Shonikan mobilisation group.
“We believe that political participation and association should not be used as a basis for removing appointed officials,” he said.
The official said the decision surprised the affected officials, adding that they were not given any other reason for their removal.
The development followed the inauguration of TMS local government coordinators across the Kano North Senatorial District on Sunday as part of efforts to strengthen the group’s grassroots mobilisation structure for the All Progressives Congress.
TMS, also known as Tinubu Maliya Shonikan, is an APC support group that mobilises grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Deputy Senate President Senator Barau I Jibrin, popularly known as Barau Maliya.
However, efforts by Kano Times to obtain Kabo’s reaction were unsuccessful, as he could not be reached for comment as of the time of filing this report.
