Ranking Legislator Hon Abubakar Makki Yallemen has a big dossier of constituency outreach that reflects his close touch with his constituents. He has utilized the opportunity given to him through projects he attracted to his constituency and his name is registered in the heart of his people
Hon Abubakar Makki Yalleman , a member of the House of Representative (Mallammadori /Kaugama Federal Constituency) Jigawa State . He is a delightful humanist, seasoned administrator, eloquent speaker, pragmatic strategist, prodigious legislator whose entire life is propelled by progressive ideas .The legislative czar with dozens of bills and motions in the house.
Born on the 22nd of May, 1969 in Tijjani Yalleman old Kano State.From birth, he has always shown promise of becoming a very bright child and in 1976, his parents recognizing his passion for learning, enrolled him in the in the Yalleman Tijjani Primary School in Kafin Hausa, in the old Kano State. He was an outstanding student in Primary School and was one of the Prefects during his final year in the School.
After obtaining his Certificate of Primary Education from the Yalleman Tijjani Primary School in 1982, young Makki proceeded to the Senior Secondary Grammar School, Hadeija in old Kano State. He continued his exploit as a bright and promising student in academics and sports throughout his time in secondary school. He graduated from secondary school in 1989,after passing the School Certificate Examination.Hon (Dr). Makki Abubakar Yalleman have always had a love for computation of figures and it was that passion that helped him find his way into the Accounting Department of the prestigious Bayero University, Kano, Kano State in 1991. He graduated from Bayero University in 1995 with a BSc in Accountancy.
After graduation from university, Hon. Makki was posted to Lagos State for his National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) exercise where he served at the Central Bank of Nigeria Headquarters, Victoria Island, Lagos State from 1995 to 1996. After his NYSC, Hon. Makki proceeded to the Nigeria College of Accountancy, Jos, Plateau State, where he sat for and passed the required examination to be a Chartered National Accountant (CNA).
Hon. Makki joined the service of the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) in 1997 as an Account Officer and served in different capacities and stations, also rising to the position of Assistant Manager (Accounts) in 2004 when he left the organisation. During the period of 1998 to 2000, Hon. Makki was enrolled in the Masters of Business Administration programme of the highly revered Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State where he obtained his MBA. Hon. Makki after leaving NEPA, returned to Jigawa State to join the Ministry of Finance and served in different capacity and played critical roles in the reorganization and transformation of the Ministry during those years from 2004 to 2010.
Hon. Makki returned back to the Federal Public Service as one of the pioneer staff of the Nigeria Electricity Liability Management Ltd/GTE in 2010, where he joined as Senior Manager Finance and Accounts, and was responsible for the setting of the Finance and Accounts Unit as well as the entire organisation structure. Hon. Makki remained in the service of NELMCO where he rose through the ranks to the position of Assistant General Manager (Finance and Accounts) before he resigned in 2018 to venture into politics.
Hon. Abubakar Makki Yalleman was elected as the representative of the good people of Kaugama/Mallam Madori Federal Constituency in 2019 and re-elected in the 2023 elections .He is the Chairman House Committee on Police Affairs and he also sits on several other key Committees of the House of Representatives with superlative performance.
Abubakar Makki’s development credentials and landmarks speaks volumes. The highlights of which were stellar achievements of constructing and rehabilitating schools and re-positioning the educational sector in the more definitive ,radically ,progressive and futuristic manner , not to mention the expansive provision of basic welfares amenities for the citizens in water resources ,healthcare ,power and the greatly improved living standards for his people in terms of capacity building, empowerment and educational scholarship for his people ,all shone brightly for both his admirers and detractors to access.
Among some of his giant constituency interventions are; facilitated the employment of 61 young people from June 2019 to date under various Institutions/Organizations, secured permanent appointment to over 100 Police Officers in the Nigerian Police.
In the Education sector ,Hon Makki performed remarkably with several interventions among which are :. Construction of Two Classrooms with office Block at Hadin Junior Secondary School, 100 JAMB Scratch Cards (50 Kaugama, 50 Mallam Madori) purchased and distributed to JAMB candidates (2020), Payment of Registration fees to Several students within the constituency,Renovation of Malam Madori Students Union Headquarters,5: Distribution of 30 Laptop Computers to Students,. Renovation of blocks in Government Day Secondary School Mallammadori (Makarantar Murabus) and distribution of educational materials (Facilities) which to dozens of primary schools amongst several educational interventions
As champion of constituency empowerment he has under the period under review been able to attract several empowerment programmes among which are ; . Empowering of 200 Fulani Women (Nono Sellers) with 50,000 to Each, Empowerment 200 Women with Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) each for both Mallamadori and Kaugama Local Government Areas, Empowerment over1000 people (women and youths) with N5,000 for small scale businesses within the constituency under the Sensitization Programme for Youth and Women by Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution,donated Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000.00) to another constituent in Kaugama town,donated Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000.00) to one Constituent in Kaugama town,donated twenty (20) vehicles,100 motorcycles, 135 sewing machines,50 grinding machines ,50 vulcanizing and ,50 water pumping machines to his constituents in both Malammadori/Kaugama LGA among others..
So far, Hon Makki Abubakar Yalleman has proved to be one of the few federal lawmakers that people are happy with the impact of their representation. No matter what anyone would say, the number of dividends of democracy that this parliamentarian was able to bring to the door step of the people he is representing is unmatched.
