Gunmen Invade Kano Village Market, Trader Killed, Boy Kidnapped

Gunmen attacked Faruruwa village in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State on Thursday night, killing a local businessman and kidnapping a young boy.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers arrived during the village’s weekly market, which was crowded with traders and residents. “They stormed the market in a surprise ambush, opening fire and creating panic among the crowd,” one witness said.

During the attack, Alhaji Rabilu, a businessman known in the area, was shot and killed. Another person was hit in the thigh by a bullet and taken to Bichi General Hospital for treatment.

A resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the village was in mourning. “Although such attacks have occurred in the past, this latest incident has sent shockwaves through the already-vulnerable community,” the source said.

The burial of Alhaji Rabilu is expected to take place on Friday morning in line with Islamic tradition.

The police have not released a statement about the incident as of the time of this report.
