The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has expressed sadness over the death of prominent Niger State politician, community leader and philanthropist, Alhaji Ibrahim Wali, the Garkuwan Kontagora.
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Rabiu Ibrahim, the minister described Wali as a close associate, trusted friend and distinguished son of Niger State who dedicated his life to supporting his people.
“I have received with profound sadness the news of the passing of my dear friend and brother, Alhaji Ibrahim Wali, the Garkuwan Kontagora. His death is a deeply personal loss to me and a painful one for the people of Kontagora Emirate and Niger State,” Idris said.
The minister said Wali distinguished himself through his service to the community, particularly through philanthropy, education, empowerment of the less privileged and other development initiatives.
“Alhaji Ibrahim Wali was a man of the people in the truest sense. He understood that privilege and influence carried a responsibility to uplift others,” he said.
Idris added that Wali carried out his traditional responsibilities as Garkuwan Kontagora with dignity and remained a respected voice on issues affecting the emirate and Niger State.
“I will personally miss his friendship, his counsel, his warmth and his remarkable ability to build bridges across different segments of society. We have lost a dependable friend and a patriot who genuinely desired the progress of his people,” the minister said.
He condoled with the deceased’s family, the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, the entire Kontagora Emirate, and the government and people of Niger State.
Idris prayed to Allah to forgive Wali’s shortcomings, reward his good deeds with Aljannatul Firdaus and grant his family and other mourners the strength to bear the loss.
