Tinubu Not Being Told the Truth About Nigerians’ Real Situation – Bugaje

Political activist Usman Bugaje has accused President Bola Tinubu of being disconnected from the harsh realities Nigerians face, blaming the president’s inner circle for shielding him from the truth.

In an interview on Channels Television, Bugaje said, “I believe the president is surrounded by sycophants who don’t allow him to see reality or tell him the truth. If he knew what Nigerians face, he’d be ashamed.”

He dismissed official rhetoric as empty and disconnected from the lives of ordinary citizens. “We’re concerned about actual steps – policies and governance structures that transform lives,” he said.

Bugaje pointed to soaring prices and widespread hardship, criticizing the country’s democratic system for failing to improve the welfare of the people. “Democracy is supposed to serve the people, but are they being served?” he asked.

He described the growing insecurity, unemployment, and collapse of small businesses as signs of a system that no longer works. “What kind of democracy is this?” he questioned.

According to him, a government that cannot guarantee welfare and security has no right to claim democratic legitimacy. “If democracy can’t provide livelihood, it loses legitimacy,” he said.

Despite his criticism, Bugaje maintained that democracy remains the best system if led by people with courage and integrity.
