Professor Haruna Musa has assumed duty as the 12th Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University Kano (BUK), succeeding Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, whose tenure as the 11th Vice-Chancellor has come to an end.
Musa, a renowned Polymer Chemistry scholar, was appointed by the University’s Governing Council on July 3, 2025.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, the new helmsman pledged to run a transparent and inclusive administration anchored on teamwork, consultation and dedication to elevate the institution to global standards.
He paid glowing tribute to his predecessor, Professor Abbas, for his impactful leadership and thanked him for the mentorship he received while serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
Professor Musa vowed to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessors, saying they had collectively placed the university on a progressive path.
