The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has affirmed Naziru Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, son of the late Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections in Bauchi State.
The affirmation took place during the party’s special delegates’ congress held on Thursday in Bauchi.
Delegates from the 20 local government areas of the state attended the exercise, which was supervised by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
In his acceptance speech, Naziru thanked party delegates for the confidence reposed in him, describing the endorsement as a great honour.
He pledged to prioritise education, security, healthcare, economic growth and self-reliance if elected governor of the state.
According to him, his ambition is driven by the desire to provide responsible leadership, empower youths and women, create jobs, and ensure justice and equal opportunities for all citizens.
“My ambition to serve as governor is driven by the desire to bring responsible leadership, economic growth, youth empowerment, justice and equal opportunities to every citizen of our state,” he said.
Naziru also promised to provide transparent and accountable leadership while working towards reducing poverty and improving infrastructure across the state.
He further expressed confidence that APGA would emerge victorious in all elective positions during the 2027 general elections.
“This movement is not about politics alone; it is about rebuilding hope, restoring trust in government, and creating a future where every citizen matters regardless of tribe, religion or social class,” he added.
Earlier, the state chairman of APGA, Alhaji Ibrahim Dantalle, said the party would field credible candidates acceptable to the people of the state.
Dantalle disclosed that a governorship aspirant voluntarily stepped down for Naziru due to his leadership qualities, capacity and competence.
He urged the candidate to carry party members along in the course of his political journey.
