The Kano State chapter of Jama’atu Izalatul Bidi’a Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) has endorsed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for a second term ahead of the 2027 governorship election, citing what it described as his administration’s development efforts in the state.
The endorsement was announced by the Chairman of the Kano chapter of JIBWIS, Professor Abdullahi Saleh, when the governor paid him a condolence visit following the death of his wife, according to a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Mr Saleh said the projects being implemented by the state government had restored public confidence in governance and contributed to the state’s development.
He said the administration should be allowed to continue its ongoing projects beyond its current tenure.
“The ongoing projects initiated by Governor Yusuf deserve continuity to enable the administration to consolidate its achievements and fully realise its long-term vision for the state,” Mr Saleh said.
He subsequently announced the endorsement of Governor Yusuf’s second-term bid on behalf of the Kano State chapter of JIBWIS.
Responding, Governor Yusuf thanked the Islamic organisation for the endorsement and expressed condolences to Mr Saleh over the death of his wife, praying for Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljannatul Firdaus.
The governor also commended Islamic scholars in Kano State for promoting peace, unity and religious harmony. He said his administration would continue to collaborate with religious institutions in efforts to promote development and improve residents’ welfare.
