Kano revenue chairman hands over as tenure expires

The Executive Chairman of the Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS), Dr. Zaid Abubakar, has formally handed over the leadership of the agency to the Senior Executive Director, Compliance and Enforcement Group, Muhammad Abba Aliyu, following the expiration of his tenure.

The handover ceremony was held on Thursday at the KIRS headquarters in Kano, with the agency’s management and staff in attendance.

Speaking during the ceremony, Abubakar expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government and the management of the service for the support he received throughout his tenure.

He also urged members of staff to remain dedicated to professionalism, teamwork and the agency’s vision of improving revenue administration in the state.

“I urge you to remain committed to professionalism, teamwork, and the collective vision of strengthening the state’s revenue administration,” he said.

Responding, Aliyu thanked the management for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to ensure continuity in the administration of the service.

A statement issued on Thursday by the Head of Corporate Communications at KIRS, Aisha Habib Maigiwa, said the leadership transition reflects the agency’s commitment to institutional stability, continuity and good governance.

“The transition reflects the Service’s commitment to institutional stability, continuity, and good governance, while reaffirming its resolve to sustain ongoing reforms and improve revenue generation for the development of Kano State,” the statement said.

The statement added that the transition marks the beginning of a new phase focused on consolidating the achievements recorded under the outgoing administration while strengthening KIRS’ efforts to deliver efficient and people-centred tax administration.
