Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has declared that the state is “unapologetically a one-party state,” attributing the dominance of the All Progressives Congress to the performance of his administration and that of President Bola Tinubu.
The governor made the remark on Saturday while hosting members of the Presidential Media Tour in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Uzodimma also said residents of the state had resolved to support Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing what he described as the President’s impactful policies and programmes.
He said, “Our people have already decided that they want President Bola Ahmed Tinubu back as president because without him and his policies and programmes, this environment we are enjoying today would have been impossible to achieve.”
The governor maintained that the APC had become the dominant political party in Imo because of the achievements recorded by both the Federal Government and his administration.
He urged members of the Presidential Media Tour to showcase the achievements of APC-controlled states across the country.
“Discuss with us and also move from here to other states because I am almost certain that many APC governors in Nigeria are working so hard, deploying the additional revenue that has accrued,” Uzodimma said.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, said the increasing number of APC governors reflected growing public confidence in the ruling party.
According to him, the APC now controls 32 states and could record more victories as elections approach in some parts of the country.
“I want to thank you for your leadership. We know where we were in terms of the number of governors about a year ago. Now, under your leadership and the overall leadership of President Bola Tinubu, we are looking at 32 APC governors, and we’re still counting because elections are still a few months away,” Dare said.
He added that the growing number of APC governors was a validation of the party’s progressive agenda, praising governors elected on the platform of the party for implementing development projects in their respective states.
