Atiku, PDP Hail Adeleke, Say Osun Victory Signals 2027

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki have congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election.

They described the victory as a pointer to what could happen in the 2027 general elections.

Atiku, in a statement by his media office, commended Osun voters for turning out to exercise their franchise and protect their votes.

He said the election reflected the democratic wishes of the people, adding that the outcome showed that voters could resist attempts to undermine the electoral process.

“The lesson from the election is that the voters in Osun State have set a good example of how we must come out in large numbers in the general elections next year,” Atiku said.

He further described the election as evidence of the rejection of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the party would be defeated in the 2027 elections.

“Nigerians have roundly rejected the APC. The election in Osun State is just a telling indication that the APC will be defeated in the general election in January 2027,” he said.

Similarly, PDP faction spokesperson, Ini Ememobong, said Adeleke’s victory was “a clear message from Nigerians in Osun State about what the 2027 elections will be.”

He alleged that the APC and some government institutions attempted to intimidate opposition supporters and manipulate the election.

Ememobong urged Nigerians to remain vigilant ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing the need for voters to cast, protect and defend their votes.
