The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended 15 suspects in connection with various criminal activities across the state.
In a statement on Friday, the Command’s spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, reported that the suspects were arrested on September 8th, 2024, around 2:00 a.m., following intelligence reports acted upon by operatives from the Funtua Area Command.
Among the arrested individuals was a seven-member gang accused of robbing a motorist transporting wrappers and materials worth approximately N4 million.
According to Sadiq, the group blocked a section of the Kano-Zaria road with stones, forcing the driver to stop. They then restrained and attacked the driver before transferring the stolen goods into two vehicles: a maroon Volkswagen Golf III, with registration number KMC 850 AJ, and an ash-colored Ford Focus, with registration number RBC 873 XP. Both vehicles, along with the stolen items, were later recovered.
Sadiq further revealed that 94 bundles of wrappers, lace materials, and two additional bundles of fabric, all valued at around N4 million, were seized during the operation.
“The investigation also uncovered that the suspects had previously stolen grains and cooking oil, using the same vehicles to carry out their crimes. The investigation is still ongoing,” the statement concluded.
