Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabiru Yusuf, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of civil servants as he received the report from the state’s Minimum Wage Committee.
This was disclosed in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Tuesday.
The committee, led by Usman Bala, the Special Adviser to the Governor on State Affairs, was tasked with reviewing the state’s minimum wage structure and proposing necessary improvements.
While receiving the report, Governor Yusuf expressed confidence in the committee’s work, acknowledging their thorough research and extensive consultations. He emphasized that the recommendations would guide the government in implementing economically viable and sustainable policies.
“We chose this committee because we trust their ability to provide valuable insights and innovative ideas for moving forward,” the governor said.
Governor Yusuf assured civil servants that his administration remained committed to the promises made during the campaign, particularly in enhancing their welfare. He urged for patience as the government reviews the committee’s recommendations to ensure they align with constitutional guidelines.
The governor added that the final decision on the report would be made public next week and called for understanding as the process continues.
Committee Chairman Usman Bala noted that the recommendations were carefully crafted to reflect Kano’s current economic conditions. He expressed confidence that the proposed wage structure would be sustainable for the state and positively impact the financial stability of civil servants.
