Residents of the Sharada community in Kano state have accused students from Baba Ahmed University of sporadic gunshots, causing panic and fear among locals.

A Kano-based local radio station, Rahama Radio, reported that the alleged incident occurred yesterday, prompting concerns about the safety and security of the community.

Bashir Sani Muhammad, who is the chief officer of the Sharada Gindin/Gandu GRA Security Committee, said the police of Sharada Division are currently investigating the matter, working to determine the motive behind the reported gunfire.

“The disturbance disrupted the peaceful atmosphere, leaving residents anxious about their well-being.”

Dr. Suleiman Umar Kofar Naisa, Dean of Students Affairs of the university, is yet to comment on the allegations, and it remains unclear whether the gunshots were a result of any internal dispute among the students or an external threat.

The Sharada Police Division has arrested the students that caused the panic, and the police have increased their presence in the area to ensure the safety of residents and to prevent any potential escalation.
