Kano Governor Abba Yusuf Among Six Honored for Education Excellence

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed his gratitude to the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) after receiving an award in recognition of his administration’s strides in reforming the education sector.

The award, which was presented during the 2024 World Teachers’ Day celebration at Eagle Square, Abuja, highlighted the governor’s exceptional efforts to improve education in the state.

Governor Yusuf was among six governors honored at the event, which was organized in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education.

The NUT National Chairman, Comrade Titus Ambe, emphasized that the governors were chosen for their dedication to advancing education, particularly in supporting teachers’ welfare and providing continuous professional development.

In his statement, Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in education, calling it the key to Kano’s future. “We shall continue to invest in education, as it’s the best way to sustain progress and ensure that future generations thrive in our state,” he said.

Governor Yusuf’s accomplishments were specifically highlighted, including his administration’s allocation of 29.9% of Kano’s 2024 budget to education and his declaration of a state of emergency in the sector, which has significantly improved both infrastructure and access to quality education in the state.
