The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, will confer the traditional title of “Magajiyar Sandamu and Kilishin Sarkin Daura” on Hajiya Baraka Sani, the former Commissioner of Agriculture in Kano State.
The ceremony will take place at the Emir’s palace on January 25, 2025.
Hajiya Baraka, from Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, has had a notable career in public service. She holds a master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from Bayero University Kano (BUK), where she also earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She was awarded the Baba Danbappa Prize as the best graduating student of the Department of Political Science in 1992.
During her career, Hajiya Baraka Sani held significant positions, including serving as the Senior Special Assistant on Agriculture to former President Goodluck Jonathan from 2014 to 2015.
She was awarded an honorary doctorate in Public Administration by the Western Pacific University of Denver, Colorado, USA. She also holds a certificate in 21st Century Leadership from Harvard University and is an alumna of the United States leadership course IVLP under the U.S. Department of State. She is currently the Vice President of the Association in Nigeria.
Hajiya Baraka Sani is a businesswoman. She serves as the director of Petrogas Energy Trading West Africa, CEO of MC Banas Fast Food, and chair of Prestige Villa Ltd in Kano State.
