The Emir of Dutse, Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sunusi, has been appointed as the Chancellor of Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila.
The Founder of the university, Abdulrahman Suleiman Kawu Sumaila, announced the appointment while presenting the letter to the Emir at his palace on Thursday.
He stated that the monarch was selected based on merit and his outstanding leadership qualities, emphasizing that his appointment would strengthen the institution’s vision for academic excellence and moral integrity.
In his acceptance speech, the Emir of Dutse expressed gratitude for the appointment and pledged to use his experience to contribute to the growth and development of the institution. He assured the university community of his commitment to fostering an environment of academic and infrastructural progress.
It will be recalled that in September 2021, the founder of Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila, presented a similar appointment letter to the 14th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, as the university’s first Chancellor.

Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sunusi, born in 1979, holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Monash University, Malaysia. He has an extensive professional background, having served as Head of Business Development at Bilyak Consulting (2007–2011) and as Head of the Northern Region at SMD Consulting (2011–2016). He is currently the Managing Director of HMS Energy Limited, bringing his wealth of experience in leadership and business management to his new role at the university.
