Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of Barrister Rahama Malam Alhaji as the Provost of the Kano State Anti-Corruption Institute.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to the statement, the appointment is part of fresh approvals by the governor aimed at strengthening key institutions in the state.
“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved fresh appointments into various positions and promoted other officials,” the statement read.
Dawakin Tofa noted that Barrister Rahama Malam Alhaji, who hails from Bunkure Local Government Area, is a seasoned legal professional with over seven years of experience spanning litigation, corporate law, electricity law, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
“She is widely known for delivering strategic legal solutions, managing complex contracts, and ensuring regulatory adherence across both private and public institutions,” the statement said.
It added that Rahama’s professional background cuts across private legal practice, corporate leadership at the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), and academic administration, where she served as Head of the School of Law at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN).
The statement further disclosed that she pioneered initiatives such as the establishment of a Law Clinic and the Student Bar Association, and holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in International Law.
The governor, according to the statement, urged all newly appointed and promoted officials “to justify the confidence reposed in them through hard work, transparency, and loyalty to the Kano First Agenda.”
“All appointments and promotions take immediate effect,” Dawakin Tofa added.
Other appointments announced include Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle as Acting Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Yusuf Mukhtar as Permanent Secretary, and the promotion of Aina’u Ade from Special Assistant to Senior Special Assistant on Kannywood Affairs.
