Former Governor of Adamawa State, Muhammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow, has withdrawn from the gubernatorial contest under the platform of the African Democratic Congress.
Bindow announced his decision in a statement on Friday, saying his withdrawal from the race was voluntary and based on personal grounds.
“I, Senator Muhammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow, former Governor of Adamawa State, hereby formally announce my voluntary decision to step down from the contest for the gubernatorial ticket under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC),” he stated.
The former governor said the decision followed “deep personal reflection and careful consideration,” stressing that it was made entirely on personal grounds.
Despite stepping aside from the race, Bindow reaffirmed his commitment to the ADC and its leadership.
“While I may be stepping aside from the gubernatorial race, I want to state clearly and unequivocally that my commitment, loyalty, and dedication to the ideals, leadership, and collective aspirations of the ADC remain firm and unwavering,” he said.
He added that he would continue to support efforts aimed at strengthening the party and advancing its vision for Adamawa State and Nigeria at large.
“I remain fully committed to the party, its leaders, stakeholders, and members across all levels, and I will continue to support every genuine effort aimed at strengthening our party and advancing its vision for a better Adamawa State and a greater Nigeria,” Bindow added.
The former governor also appreciated his supporters, associates, and residents of Adamawa State for their support throughout his political journey.
“I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support, encouragement, prayers, and confidence reposed in me by my supporters, political associates, and the good people of Adamawa State throughout this journey. Your belief in our shared vision has been both humbling and inspiring,” he said.
Bindow further urged his supporters to remain calm and committed to the success of the party.
“Politics is ultimately about service, sacrifice, and putting the collective interest above personal ambition. I have taken this decision in that spirit, with the hope that it will further strengthen our unity and consolidate our shared purpose as a political family,” he stated.
