The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Bauchi North Senatorial District, Sheikh Abdulkadir Adamu Isawa, has emerged winner of the party’s senatorial primary election held ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The primary election took place on Wednesday at the Snow White Event Centre in Azare under the supervision of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies and party stakeholders.
Delegates from the seven local government areas that make up the senatorial district participated in the exercise, which featured two aspirants — Isawa and Alhaji Maula Adamu.
At the end of the voting process, Isawa secured 137 votes to clinch the party’s ticket, while his opponent scored no vote.
Speaking shortly after the announcement of the results, Isawa expressed appreciation to party delegates and members for the confidence reposed in him.
He called on PDP supporters across the district to remain united and work towards the party’s success in the forthcoming elections.
The PDP flag bearer also commended officials of INEC and security personnel for ensuring a peaceful and transparent conduct of the exercise.
Isawa further pledged to provide quality representation and promote development across the Bauchi North Senatorial District if elected.
