The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Enlightenment, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project, revealing that the project has reached 95 per cent completion.
Abdulaziz made the disclosure on Thursday while addressing journalists during an inspection tour of the project along the Kaduna–Kano road.
The inspection was conducted under the Federal Government’s “Seeing is Believing” media tour, also known as the “Gani Ya Kori Ji” initiative, designed to give journalists firsthand access to key infrastructure projects being executed under the Tinubu administration.
According to him, the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability while showcasing the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We are delighted to see and hear from the project officials that the strategic gas infrastructure has reached 95 per cent completion and remains on schedule for commissioning before the end of the year,” Abdulaziz said.
He noted that upon completion, the pipeline would ensure a reliable supply of natural gas to power plants and industries, lower energy costs, improve electricity generation and drive industrialisation across Northern Nigeria.
Describing the AKK pipeline as one of the flagship projects of the Tinubu administration, Abdulaziz said it would create thousands of jobs, attract investments, strengthen the manufacturing sector and unlock significant economic opportunities in the region.
Also speaking, a representative of the Chinese engineering firm handling the project, Hu Sassai, said field clearance, foundation and building works had been completed, adding that equipment for installation had already arrived at the project site.
The inspection team also visited Section I of the Zaria–Funtua–Gusau–Sokoto Dual Carriageway Project, where members assessed the pace of ongoing construction.
The delegation further inspected the Vocational and Technology Skills Acquisition City in Kaduna State, established by Governor Uba Sani to equip young people with vocational and technical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
The team also visited the revived General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua University of Geological Sciences and Engineering Technology in Kaduna.
