The presidential running mate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has described the 2027 general election as a contest between oppressed Nigerians and those responsible for their hardship.
Kwankwaso stated this while reacting to the recently constituted Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement he personally signed, the former Kano State governor questioned whether the council represented a new beginning for Nigerians or a continuation of the policies of the current administration.
He said the composition of the council comprised politicians who had supported, defended or participated in the present administration.
Kwankwaso said, “Their coming together raises a fundamental question: What exactly are they asking Nigerians to vote for in 2027: a new beginning or the continuation of the same system that has brought severe hardship to our people?”
He added, “I see the 2027 election as a struggle between the oppressed Nigerian masses and those who have benefited from, defended and sustained the system responsible for their hardship.”
According to him, Nigerians are currently facing rising food prices, unemployment, insecurity and declining economic opportunities.
He said farmers and businesses were struggling to survive, while education, healthcare and other essential public services remained under pressure.
