A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Malam Farouk Adamu Aliyu, says the majority of northerners will still cast their votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Aliyu stated this on Friday while responding to questions during an interview with Arise Television.
According to him, opposition figures pose no real threat to Tinubu’s chances in 2027.
“The majority of the people of the north will still vote for APC. And Tinubu will be our candidate. And whether Jonathan is coming in, it’s going to be a threat to us? We respect Jonathan.
“We respect him. We respect Atiku. We respect all these Nigerian leaders. But I tell you, I have not seen anyone on the horizon that can compete with Tinubu as presently constituted,” he said.
The APC stalwart added that governance is ultimately decided by Nigerians and not by political elites.
Speaking on claims of dissatisfaction in the North, Aliyu explained that although not everyone in the region may support Tinubu, the APC still commands majority backing.
