The Kano State Government has set up a committee to review its qualifying examinations system in a move aimed at improving efficiency and performance in the education sector, officials said on Friday.
The committee, inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Ibrahim, will assess existing examination processes, logistics, and personnel to identify areas for improvement, according to a statement from Musa Muhammad, Press Secretary to the SSG.
“The decision to constitute the committee was informed by the administration’s resolve to improve the education sector and consolidate on the gains achieved so far,” Ibrahim said at the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by top education officials.
He said the review would ensure fairness and enhance student performance across secondary schools in the state.
The committee, chaired by the Special Adviser on Corporate Social Responsibility, includes representatives from the Ministry of Education, Kano Educational Resource Department, the Science and Technical Schools Board, and the Senior Secondary Schools Management Board.
It has been directed to submit its report within four weeks.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration has described the initiative as part of its broader commitment to revitalising education and sustaining Kano’s strong record in internal and external examinations.
