The Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Binta Adamu Bello, has urged Nigerians to remain vigilant during the end-of-year celebrations to prevent human trafficking.
Speaking at the NAPTIP Christian Fellowship’s end-of-year Thanksgiving program in Abuja, Bello warned that traffickers often exploit the festive season to deceive and recruit victims for sexual or labor exploitation.
“It is important to advise all parents and stakeholders across the country to stay vigilant during celebrations in our towns, villages, and communities. This is the period when traffickers may use ill-gotten wealth to lure and deceive people,” she said.
Bello called on community leaders to report suspicious activities. “Let us unite and say no to human trafficking,” she added.
She highlighted the need for awareness campaigns, victim rehabilitation, and the prosecution of traffickers. “Human traffickers are enemies of this generation. We must unite, share information, and collaborate to defeat them,” Bello stated.
