Kano-CARES Spokesperson Shafa’atu Karaye Inducted as NIPR Member

Shafa’atu Said Karaye has recently been inducted into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) as one of its newest Public Relations Officers. She currently serves as the Public Relations Officer for the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus Program (NG-CARES) in Kano State.

Born and raised in Karaye Local Government Area of Kano State, Shafa’atu holds a degree in Mass Communication and a postgraduate diploma in the same field from the National Open University of Nigeria. She is also pursuing a master’s degree in Public Relations.

Her career started after completing her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2016. In 2017, she worked as a reporter for Freedom Radio’s Dala FM. The following year, she moved to Guarantee Radio, where she took on roles as a news editor and program producer after a successful interview.

In 2021, Shafa’atu shifted into a government-related role when she secured a position as an Information and Communication Officer for the NG-CARES program through an interview at the Kano State Ministry of Agriculture.

She says her journey has taught her the importance of patience and honesty in her work. Being a journalist has also pushed her to speak up and contribute positively to society.

Shafa’atu is among 72 Information Officers and Public Relations practitioners recently inducted into NIPR, joining a community dedicated to professional development in the communications field.
