Ex-President Buhari’s Son Declares 2027 Bid for House of Representatives Seat

Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has formally announced his intention to contest for a House of Representatives seat in the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was confirmed by Bashir Ahmad, former Special Assistant on Digital Communications to the late president, following widespread social media speculation about Yusuf’s political ambitions.

In a letter dated April 3 and addressed to stakeholders in the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua federal constituency of Katsina State, Yusuf Buhari expressed his readiness to run on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I am extremely delighted to inform you of my intention to contest for this position, as I aim to contribute to good leadership and bring development to our people,” the letter stated.

Confirming the development on his X page, Ahmad wrote: “Following wide consultations, Yusuf Buhari, the son of our late boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, has informed stakeholders of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency under the All Progressives Congress.”

Since the conclusion of his father’s presidency, Yusuf Buhari has largely remained away from the political spotlight, making this declaration his most significant political move to date.
